Need your advice PLEASE. 1440p 60hz vs 1080p 144hz ? Undecided

I know this question exists but I feel for my own personal needs and what I do play I felt it warranted me asking this question but I do apologize. I have a GTX 1080 FTW and what I have now is a standard 1080p 60hz monitor. My question is what would you all recommend for me personally? It’s between 1080p 144hz or 1440p 60hz. Yes I know I can get 1440p 144hz but between the two I did mention, what do you suggest? I don’t play FPS games. I play mostly survival/horror games like The Forest, 7 days to die, Subsistence, the long dark, neo scavenger, this war of mine, don’t starve, stranded deep, project zomboid, state of decay 2, dead rising, dark wood, path of exile, Skyrim modded occasionally and various Horror games. It’s pretty much all single player as well and I don’t play any VR. As for price range, I can’t really shell out a kidney so something reasonably priced would be ideal. Based on the games I like any input for monitors would be a tremendous help. Thanks in advance :)

More frames makes a huge difference to gameplay, and regardless of what I am playing I would take that over a higher res most days. That being said, if you really don't care about higher then 60fps go with the 1440p.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

Skyrim modded.

These two reasons alone make 1440p60 more attractive tbh. 144hz is nice and all that, but unless you are playing competitive FPS or esport games, it's really not needed.

Also just wanted to add that Bethesda games at very high framerates just simply.... break. Their physics engines are explicitly tied to framerate.

Thank you very much everyone. My gut is telling me 1440p and so I’m going to say final answer to that one. I’d love to get the best of both worlds but unfortunately since I don’t have a money tree growing in the back I am limited to what I can comfortably spend. Also, I really wanted an IPS panel so that makes my decision even more solid. :)
