Hosting at home (help)

Go to solution Solved by Ryois,

If you're a student get an Imagine account https://imagine.microsoft.com and download Windows Server. Get IIS amd configure it. That's what I did. It has support for MySQL, PHP, ASP.NET, etc.

Hello !

so, im in a odd situation, where owning and hosting a website at home, is cheaper and actually better than on the cloud.
sounds a bit odd, its not typial. but its my case.

thing is. im not sure how.

I can get a machine for pretty cheap, but im not too sure how to set it up.

I want to host multiple websites (some are single page jokes tbh, but 1-2 will be quite bigger, as in, a portfolio)
I need PHP & MySQL support.
I just don't know how to set that up.

Thanks !

The bandwidth isn't the issue, some ISP's put restrictions on common web ports (80,443,25,8080,587) to prevent people running business services off consumer connections.

Yeah. 443 youll just need a SSL certificate. I suggest LetsEncrypt or Cloudflare. I use Cloudflare.

I connected my website to cloudfare, (currently im using a hosting service for free)
and I have subdomains. but like. my subdomains don't work anymore.
here's the adresses :

Spoiler

http://moleculedesign.ca (currently a ripped page from ltt jsut for random html to put in)
http://stargen.moleculedesign.ca (a webpage made from a svg file) <-- inaccesible
http://uoltt.moleculedesign.ca (this website, but not in bootstrap) https://beta.uoltt.org/)  <-- inaccesible

how do I fix this ?
also, how do I get subdomains on home hosting ?
do I just put the folder in ?
