My school blocks VPN's

So my school blocks VPN's altogether. I have tried Tunnelbear, Free VPN, and some other vpn softwares. I have tried to bring in my own device (macbook) to see if that solves the issue, but they even blocked that VPN service. I want to use a VPN to watch videos and play a few games during my free periods. I use a windows laptop. Thanks for any help! :)

Yea most decent schools run a lot of security to prevent people on there network or students running programs they shouldn't. I know this because I need to know this for work. I can't talk to much about it. But you have no chance of running a VPN.

VPN's are blocked for a reason in schools, They don't do stuff like that for the sack of being a spoil sport.

To them they can see it as a security issue, Example, a single station uses a VPN is changes what the School network see's as that station meaning if Something becomes compromised etc and it was caused via the station using a VPN it makes it harder for the It Staff to find the Workstation that done it. Which means they go to alternate methods and see who was logged on to that VPN workstation and have to start asking them what computer they where on.

Pretty much Security Protection in short is why VPN's even Subscription based ones are Blocked.

@bcguru9384 , Schools tend to block Web browser Games and Social media platforms along with YouTube, to promote an efficient work environment or in short keep Students from Faffing around

do they block remote desktop tools as well?

if not well at least youtube can be run

Ummm, I'm from the Uk and I know ways to get round the system implemented (Not mentioning it due to Forum Rules), But I think Remote Desktops is allowed but LAN side not WAN side, So having your PC at home be controlled by the Workstation in School won't work, plus I think it's only allowed if your username is under the Teacher's List. No reason for students to have access to a remote desktop.

I Didn't have issue because my School IT staff set my Account as an Administrator to help with problems they where having at times so a pretty much was able to access all sites, :D

Generally, yes, RD connections in/out the firewall are blocked. RD may be used internally or there may be a specific RDS server configured for the school. There are a whole raft of data protection laws that schools have to comply with. Allowing students to use VPNs or similar services would put the school in a position where it is endangering the students online and risking their data.

It also isn't just down to blocking 'for the lols' or 'because we can'. We are either instructed to block these types of things as and when we come across them by management to keep students on track, or we have to block certain things legally and for security. Don't forget, school's hold a lot of information about you. Your name, address, parental details (including whether you're in care, parents are divorced, court proceeding outcomes, etc), learning difficulties, dietry requirements, behaviour tracking and a whole load more.

Stop and think a second, something is more than nothing.
