7700k or 8700

I am building a pc that I will mainly use for gaming and music production. The only part for the pc I have right now is a gtx 1070 ti. I am also willing to wait if something better is going to come out soon so please tell me if there is something worth waiting for.

The 8700 is a far more solid choice, I believe. You could also wait and see what Ryzen 2 looks like in a few months, but currently the 8th gen Intel is a far better choice over the 7th (especially in the music production area, the extra cores work wonders when encoding high quality audio)

Out of those two, an i7-8700 is a better choice. But if you can wait as you mentioned, I'd wait and see what Ryzen+ brings.
