Personal opinions on RGB....

Beyond an RGB keyboard, I don't care about RGB at all. RGB keyboards have somewhat of a function and they're something you actually see for the most part.

So, I run a lot of RGB in my build (Obsidian 500D SE which comes with 3x LL120's in the front, and a Commander Pro connected to an LED strip, H115i Platinum which has to ML140 RGBs. and the Asus Prim Z390-A).

I don't leave them on all the time, like, during the day they're off (except when playing Far Cry 5 because the US flag on my case is funny), but I use them at night kind of as ambient. Additionally, I can shut everything off and stealth the system if I wish to, or make it full white, blue, orange, RGB vomit, etc.

I get the dislike towards it, but if it's done right it can look clean. Most of my build is white/silver to help reflect if lights are on, and otherwise black to stealth it out.

I do dislike the massive marketing around it like it's a bit much to have RGB in stuff like speakers (looking at you Logitech) or a mousepad (looking at my Corsair MM800, don't judge me). It can definitely be tasteful, and the rainbow vomit mode is really only good imo for a demo showing off all the colours but eh.

The Geforce 1080 I have has RGB features, but the "controller" software sucks up CPU and memory for no reason.

The Razer mouse, same, the software takes up a needless amount of cpu time, handles, and memory even when it's not doing something. I can't imagine there being any point to buying a complete set of RGB things and have to load a dozen different rgb controller software that all do the same.

This is the Razer software

My case is hidden behind my monitor due to table space constraints, so even if I have RGB I'm not gonna see it anyway.

Also the current ancient CM Elite 361 case I have is completely closed off, and my new soon-to-be arriving Phanteks P300 will also be hidden behind the monitor anyway. As long as it boots and runs the stuff I want, I really couldn't care any less for RGB.

to me, a little bit of rgb is nice, but it isn't really necessary

it's more of functionality than looks for keyboards

It sort of depends, some cases look really good without RGB. I prefer it with RGB but only if it has a set them and not rainbow madness.

I love RBG.

On my keyboard, it's actually immensely useful because it helps me type (I write for a living) due to me being able to see the keys with my peripheral vision. On non-RBG keyboards I can't do that, and it causes me to make more typos and forces me to look at the keyboard more often.

As for purely decorative RGB, I love that as well. I got a blue RBG theme going on with my computer (because my KB is a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Classic that only has blue RBG) and I really love looking at it. Especially while I work or wait for a game to load or something, I love to look at the lit up components indie the case. ❤️

Well, I don't really like RGB much. If it has lights for anything, I leave it on. I don't care if they sync or match colors and what not.

My RGB is activated only on this section, the buttons which I frequently use the most when I play game. I make some certain color zonations depends on the function of each keys in the game, but after I ended my gaming session I turn it off. Thanks to Ducky's onboard RGB controller, I can control my RGB right on the keyboard itself with hotkey combinations without needing a software to control it.

I dont have any RGB except on my keyboard and mouse, but I also dont turn the RGB on of my mouse in sake of its battery life and basically RGB on a mouse is useless.

I can take RGB or leave it... I have zero interest in building a system that lights up. I do have some small interest in lighting on my mouse/keyboard as I'm often doing stuff in my home office without lights on... or just a lamp and the screens. So being able to see the keyboard better is a plus.

But my desktop rig sits on a platform by the side of my desktop... it's a tool not a fashion accessory, so RGB is just for those that want something shiny to look at.

Given a choice between buying something with RGB or buying the exact same spec item and saving money... I'll always opt to save the money... Hence those corsair ML fans I bought when I built my system DO NOT have RGB... and my H115 AIO only has RGB on the block, not on the fans... thank fuck they did a version without.

My Aorus motherboard has some RGB on it... which is turned off... My ram is free from RGB.

But it's getting a little hard to buy parts without it... which really pisses me off.

i don´t really care for it, love my old ducky because it has REAL white LED´s and no RGB, so white is not a ... "wierd bluish tint"

i am okay with it inside a case, i really don´t like LED fans, and outside LED´s on pc´s, ESPECIALLY screens..

uhh i wish i could get a 1440p 144-165hz IPS display in a Dell like, simple case, and not these "GAMER" oriented, color explosions.

I think it came from a few different places. Star Wars is one, so are the running lights underneath riced-out cars, cocaine, the realization that blinky multicolored lights are kinda cool (probably a result of someone having cocaine). And yes, people like it. Again, cocaine.

Because marketing fluff. A fancy picture speaks more to the ricers than actually squeezing out every bit of potential out of your hardware and money.

I like it because it makes it super stupid simple to get a specific theme.  All orange, push a button, all blue, push a button, etc, etc.

Now of course there's something to be said when all the parts are properly colored.  Bu I also like the lights.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

For me, it's about customization. I have a white and silver themed build and I like being able to change the entire look just by pressing a button.

When most people think of RGB, they usually mean the rainbow puke effect which, in my opinion, is fun for a bit but, it gets old fairly quickly.

no hate on rgb, i love a little rgb too, mostly to be able to change my neutral color themed build to any color with just a few clicks using awful rgb software. just not too much as sometimes they end up looking like unicorn vomit.
