Are you using chrome like most everyone else? Your login is stored. Your LTT page shows other accounts you have, so you have logins for those, do you never log into any account from that compromised computer?

 

it's something like 90% of people use the same password for everything, are you in that group? because if so, and you login into anything really, its not hard for someone to try said email and password into a lot of sites.

My concern isn't passwords it's sites like paypal that might decline claims if it gets really bad. Email Steam and my Bank are all "fairly" safe because the bank uses cross references and doesn't store my card number directly, while the other 2 require my phone for confirmation on unknown devices (I signed in through steam for this site)

 

Over all the smarter people won't have much to worry about unlike those who think leaving their phones and computers unlocked without passwords and use them for personal stuff and keeping passwords on them for said things.

Ubuntu Server running Gnome 2, Firefox and whatever Canonical calls their software center now, with some other packages that make for a nice lightweight Ubuntu system.

 

In programs, it was just as fast as running Windows 8.1, but interactions with the OS itself is not that fast. Still isn't running Mint KDE or Mate on my 5930K.

Just til a few months ago when thank goodness another bank bought them out, My old bank did not even have an automated email when a new device signed in, no extra authentication options beyond a password, just a forgot my password option. And worst of all, It's not the only bank like that still.

 

Beyond that, which is thankfully not too common at all anymore, It is a huge hassle when you have to go through and reset passwords on potentially multiple websites because someone tried to break into your account with the correct login

In programs, it was just as fast as running Windows 8.1, but interactions with the OS itself is not that fast. Still isn't running Mint KDE or Mate on my 5930K.

Oh ok, well my old computer Ubuntu refused to install both via USB and CD that's why i went to Fedora. I personally hated the new look they did a few years ago...

Beyond that, which is thankfully not too common at all anymore, It is a huge hassle when you have to go through and reset passwords on potentially multiple websites because someone tried to break into your account with the correct login

I dont have automated email notification unless it's a deposit via e-interac transfer...  I'm now going to see if there is a option for that. Yup enabling them now, no new device login tho, unless the security concerns is a different way of saying it..

 

For password recovery it's done threw 2 ways phone (they can reset and send a new temp one) or via website which does the same threw a 5 step procedure.

Apparently, this flaw is " present in modern Intel processors produced in the past decade."  So basically, every Intel CPU that is not obsolete, and a few obsolete ones too. Almost all laptops run Intel. 60-50% of desktops run intel. This means there are likely over two billion pc's at risk. (Edit: was using total number of pc's it 2011, corrected for 2017 metrics)

So does this mean that if you have Xeon PLATINUM chips this bug doesn't hit them? I  mean.. they do say Hardware-Enhanced Security, right there in English!
