So i have an i5 4590 and would like to upgrade...

Without me giving reasons. All i want to know is what is better value/more worth it for the money. That is all.

So

I found an i7 4790k for $400 used ... (I'm Australian) it sounds a lot... but in comparison

I could get an i5 7600k for $299 however I'd need to get a new mobo and new ram and a new cooler which would bring up the price to around 900

Is the price difference worth the upgrade.

Or is the 4790k more powerful anyway

Thanks

My PC Specs: CPU: Core i5 4590 @ stock speeds, GPU: RX 480 8GB, RAM: 16GB DDR3 @1600mhz

Case: Zalman ZM-T4,Motherboard: GigaByte GA-H81M-S2H LGA 1150, HDD/SSD: 2TB Seagate Expansion drive, 1TB Samsung Portable HDD, 160gb Intel SSD, PSU: 550w corsair cxm

if your current board supports overclock find another i7-4790K deal and get a cheaper i7-4790K

How much can you sell your current CPU for?

Don't pay $400 for a used CPU that's that old. That's a straight rip off.

Consider:

Ryzen 1600

Intel i5 8400

Ryzen can be quite cheap, even for a full upgrade:

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor  ($278.00 @ Shopping Express)

Memory: Team - Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($129.00 @ Umart)

If you don't want to OC, get a locked CPU.

If you don't want to OC, why are you getting a K chip?

I'd go with the i5 8400, an Asus board, and turbo lock it then.
