Gtx 1080 / 1070 for 1080p monitor

I am gonna buy a Gtx 1080 / a GTX 1070 for my 1080p monitor but I don't know that whether it will be futureproof for the next 3 years or not or any new cards coming up that I should wait for.. Should I save the 90$ on the GTX 1070 or go for the best ?

The best is the 1080Ti. The 1080 should be fine for the next couple years at 1080p

The 1080 will be more 'futerproof' as it is more powerful.  There will be new cards out every year for the next 3 years.  That's just how it works. 

With that said, there are still plenty of people gaming on 700 series cards so 3 years should be a realistic life span for a 1080.

So a 1080 is a better option not so much to keep a 90$ save rather than to buy a new card (500$ spending) in the next 2 year? better buy a 1080 thanks

Yes the 1080ti is the best but it's another 50-60$ more which right now I need for my application into the exams for my internship ?

Depends, is it a 60hz monitor or 120+?

60hz go for the 1070, 120+ i'd go 1080

 

But then again if it's only $90 more for the 1080, i'd go for that no matter what the refresh rate, it'll handle 1080p for quite a few years, and 1440p/4k if you ever upgrade your monitor.

50-60$ more??? Isn’t a 1080ti $700 and a 1080 $500?

Well both cards are almost overkill for 1080P to some degree but if you can afford a 1080 a 1070 Ti is pointless since a lot of good 1080s are only $50-$75

 

However if you on a strict budget and deciding between a 1070 and 1070 Ti then the TI is my pick

 

now if your going 3440x1440 or 4K then yeah 1080

buying a GPU right now i would still try to get a GTX 1080

it's gonna be a nice card for years to come at 1080p

i do 2560x1440 144hz Gsync and rift VR with mine and i would like a bit more punch but for 1080p it's an amazing card.

Gonna get a GTX 1080 and may be of msi armor edition or gigabyte windforce, Any idea which has the least noise  associated with it and it's much less than others , can't get Asus it's too costly here and customer service is bad too . Zotac I have no idea what kind of brand it is and well it gives 10 years of warranty ? which I have read online that it does not even show where to ship the card....

the 1070ti if you can find one close to MSRP will be a better value than the 1080 as its $50 cheaper but 5% slower in most applications

I did consider that but none are that price point but yes I found the zotac 1080 mini at 1070 time price but the whine it makes made me not wanna buy it ?(had AMD 7870 earlier )

I had a Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 and I have found Gigabyte offers some of the easiest and best overclocking, however even with the triple fans the card was a tad hotter than I would like.  My EVGA GTX 1080 SC ACX 3.0 runs at the same temp compared to my prior Gigabyte GTX 1070, granted I have a SFF (10L) with terrible airflow.
