if you ever need to reinstall it, go through the custom step and find the filetype step during the installation. there should be a page where you can uncheck filetypes (e.g. apparently VLC associates with .bin files by default for some reason)

Are you sure its a Rar file? I know WinRar opens Java files. If you want to run the java file, right click it and select run with java.

I guess if there supposed to be java files they are might be just symbol ? On Windows just right click details and it shows the file type. And if its downloaded files they might just be packed as rar file. What you wanna do with those files ?

oh that's it. it shouldn't be a problem if you don't have to edit the .jar, but if you want/need to:

control panel > default programs > set default programs

find .jar and change the program association

Just do a search for default programs in the search windows bar and from there choose default apps by file types.

ahh no you have to hand it off to another program for it to handle. I don’t remember if one could completely remove a filetype association in windows. i’m away from my PC at the moment, so it’s hard for me to find out without testing
