Jaok

No. You don't need heavily bolstered sides, which are designed to hold you in during cornering in a car when you're sitting at your desk.

You're paying for looks and a name, not much more. Spending the same money on an office chair, which generally look boring, but are designed for comfort during long sitting periods and built to last is much better.

Pretty much everything with "gaming" in the product name isn't worth the money. It's become a marketing thing that might as well stand for "more expensive and flashy".

If you are a little more heavy and bigger like me with nearly 2 m... a gaming chair, in mind to pick the right one, may be the cheaper solution.

A few years ago I didn't sit at my desk, just next to it... the only thing on it were printer and monitor. my as sparked in a comfy old living room tv chair, legs up, keyboard on my lap and the mouse on top of the bigtower next to me...

never got as comfy as that ever again.

This is one of those things I have changed my mind on after going through some cheapo office chairs from amazon and my brother buying an £180 gtomega. Honestly it's really high quality comfortable and will last longer than a cheap office chair from Ikea/amazon/staples/wherever. Yes it's more expensive but its not crazy expensive and you won't have to worry about getting a new chair for a long time, for that £200 price range the office chair market just is not that saturated and the gaming chairs are not bad offerings.

Unless it's a mouse or a monitor, in which case it may actually have features that give tangible benefits while playing games.

A lot of the time, "gaming" monitors are just marketing and flashy too. Things like 1ms response times (which is meaningless) and LED lighting, fancy stands and such. In general, monitors and TVs are some of the most bullshitty products around, with a bunch of meaningless and misleading/misunderstood specs. There's so little you can actually tell from a monitor's spec sheet that's actually useful information.

Mice are one of the few exceptions, where "gaming" mice genuinely have good features that normal mice don't.

It's stuff like Asus's "gaming" router that makes me laugh. Especially their crab on its back router.

Low response time is not meaning less, first it reduces ghosting providing better visuals in fast moving  scenes and second if you play a competitive esport in a lan environment a few ms DO count for something.

Also whens the last time you saw an office monitor with 144Hz or G-sync/freesync?

Response times do make a difference, quoted response times are meaningless and inaccurate. I've not found anyone that can reliably tell the difference between what is supposedly 5ms and 1ms (or larger) without knowing the specs. Response times certainly can make a difference, but when there's no standardised way to measure response times and when the results vary so much when tested methodically, they're just marketing statistics. It's also commonly showcased in a way that makes it seem like input delay/lag.

I did mention that it's to do with the flashy aspect on monitors. Kind of nitpicky, but there's "gaming monitors" and "GAMING monitors". Like the Dell S2716DG. Yes, it's a "Gaming monitor", but the marketing is basically just the same as their regular monitors and it looks sleek. The, "GAMING" marketing monitors like the Acer Predator XB1 are ridiculous. It's a shame that it seems to be how everything is marketed.

That's what I meant at least, I guess I should have made it clear. I generally don't like marketing for any monitors or TVs because there's just so much BS. The "GAMING" monitors just push it a lot harder. I believe it was Dell that admitted that after a certain point, their contrast ratio specs become meaningless and are basically just a guess.

No. The cheap gaming chairs are crap and get damaged easily and the expensive ones are... expensive.

Get a decent office chair, it will last and you won't have suicidal thoughts once it breaks, don't get a leather one, they look nice but the leather on them is usually crap and gets torn easily.

I bought a DX Racer King awhile back, and I honestly regret it.  It was a $400 chair, and it is honestly uncomfortable for  me over long periods of time.  I am very broad shouldered, and the racing edges force my shoulders forward a little bit, which over time cases back soreness.  My friend has a (much cheaper) executive chair from Costco and I find it to be far more comfortable over long periods of time than the DX Racer.  Also, it's only been a few years and the leather in the seat is starting to tear / wear out. All in all, 2/10, would not recommend purchase.  Two points because a few people will see it and go "Duuuuude, nice chair"

quite the opposite here

and I paid 250 for my king series

best chair I have owned and I have had many sub $300-400 chairs

still going like new after 4 yrs of abuse

6ft 200lbs and I work in steel fabrication so I know back issues, not a problem for me

and abuse I mean long gaming sessions, parties, and sex(remove the arms and use that recline option)

being in my 30s I hated the fact of buying "gaming" chair but I thought about the all the reclining angles which why I tried considering it was on massdrop for 250 and been through so many chairs even modded the hell out of my serta chair which I still have

wouldnt give it up and think the woman wouldnt be happy about getting rid of it lol

I personally have a Dx Racer and I've had it for two years now. I love it and it's super comfortable. For the price I payed it has more than held up and I sit on it daily for a few hours at a time. So yes they are worth it if you like the style and can afford it. However if you arent dead set on buying a gaming chair then look around, there are plenty of high end computer chair options. I know RandomfrankP on YouTube uses a super ergonomic one but it's pretty expensive. It all depends on what you want

I had a fancy office chair at my workplace and it was overrated. I will certainly not discount a gaming chair before i have tried it myself. Some of them seems to have gotten the design right.. (looking like a normal chair)

I agree with Walt, a good office chair is also fine which can replace the gaming chair. It gives the benefits like reduction of body aches and pressure sores, better back posture, increases productivity, better blood circulation, and many more. So if you are still looking for the best chair then either you have a look at the professional showrooms like office furniture solutions or else can have a view of a variety of chair online too. Hope this can help you.
