Whats wrong with /r/mechanicalkeyboards

Reading the comments in /r/mechanicalkeyboards really makes me like this sub a lot less. So much elitism is completely unnecessary for a fun hobby. People who come to this sub asking for help aren't enthusiasts, and the wiki is extremely dense and convoluted for people who don't know anything about mechanical keyboards.

 

Also they are always bashing Corsair/Razer/Logitech boards.

I wouldn't exactly call myself a super keyboard snob but I can give very legitimate criticisms to these companies for their keyboards:

 

Corsair: Cheap plastic (as is the usual for way too many Corsair products, esp cases) and stupid proprietary caps

 

Razer: Older Blackwidow is a pretty nice keyboard but the newer stuff (last 3 years or so) is just made so cheaply and their switches wiggle an unacceptable amount. If you try to jiggle around a Cherry switch stem with a cap on it it might move very slightly, but it doesn't move around a measurable distance.

 

Logitech's Romer-G switches feel is subjective but they feel cheap and the caps cannot be replaced while the board's plastics are kinda "meh," again like a lot of other modern "PC Gamer!!!" stuff from many companies.

 

Cooler Master is a good entry-point for a lot of people and most people on that subreddit would probably agree. Standard layouts and no crazy frills.
