Most classic example is the "Population Bomb", but it's been an issue where they use models to claim country has X people but actually counting ends up significantly short of that number.

 

Or how crowds of "tens of thousands!" show up somewhere, yet it's maybe 500 people. Though that's as much of a Fake News issue.
