NEED HELP! My computer has a virus trying to solve CPU always at 100% Usage

Go to solution Solved by SupaKomputa,

Boot from installation disk and select install.

type your serial, and on the next screen you'll be asked to upgrade or new install.

select new install and then select your main partition (should be the biggest one).

don't delete or format anything, if you do, your files will be deleted.

proceed to windows installation.

all your files will be saved at C:\windows_old you can restore it by copying C:\windows_old/users/yourname to c:\users/your_name.

reinstall all programs that you need.

I have a Ryzen 5 1400 cpu. No matter what, it's always at 100% usage. According to McAfee AntiVirus Plus, I don't have any problems. I will run another scan today to double check. Please help, as it's making my CPU constantly run at 100% and I don't want it's lifespan to decrease. Look at the replies to see the problem I'm now facing.

It might be background service running like search indexing.

Your CPU will be just fine at 100% all the time.

Just make sure the it is not overheated.

Check for malware, sometimes antivirus doesn't detect it.

I think this is also causing games to bottleneck. Minecraft used to run at over 200fps but now it can barely get over 60. (I don't play Minecraft. It was just the first game I used to benchmark my computer when I first got it.)

You may have too much junk running in the system.

On your task manage, select Startup tab. and then disabled the ones that are not crucial.

If still happened, I would advice running system reset.

And then install all programs one by one, until you find the culprit.

Problem like this 90% of the time is software, not hardware.

I probably have a virus. It says task manager is over 20% usage of it.

So I'm trying to reset it inside of Windows and it won't let me. I tried going to the advanced options page restarting my computer and it only shows "turn off pc". When I tried to reset it in settings it said recovery media not found even though I put the windows 10 recovery media disk that came with my PC in my PC. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

you may be booting in bios / legacy mode not uefi.

your partition is on GPT mode, that is only support UEFI boot mode.

to boot in uefi manually. on the bios screen (after beep) press f9, this will make you select boot partition.

in my pc (hopefully yours too), it will display :

- windows uefi boot (partition a)

- windoes uefi boot (from install disk, if inserted)

- boot from hdd partition A <---- this will run mbr legacy mode

- boot from install disk  <---- this will run mbr mode

- and so on if you have anymore bootable drive

UEFI boot mode (the top 2) will be created automatically if the bios detected you have a uefi compatible drive.

You can select it as a default in uefi / bios manager (press del in boot).

Find the option "Enable UEFI Boot mode" and enabled it.

And then go to boot tab and select windows uefi as your 1st boot.

save and reboot.

Now you'll want to select windows uefi boot from install disk.

proceed with the installation.

All I needed to do was turn on Boot in UEFI mode and make the disc the first boot drive. It's installing Windows right now, and it's keep all of my files! I will reply if something happens, but for now THANK YOU!

So Windows is set up and I put my old user in my new user folder. Should I drag everything out of my old user into the new user to get access to everything?
