Ass Creed Origins frame rate issues

ijonoi

Hey LTT forums. First post. big fan.

Was wondering if someone could offer some insight into the new AC:O performance.

I'm rocking GTX 1080TI, with i7 3820, at 4k the game stutters quite bad at 24,30, + 60fps vsync. But smooths out when I apply the in game Adaptive Resolution settings at Very high.

I'm also getting some screen tearing. Currrently i'm getting a choppy 50-55fps, with occasional noticeable dips.

I heard the DRM on this game is killing performance, can anyone confirm that's the issue or offer any settings adjustments that may help?

Stay Classy.

i would first check if your cpu is bottlenecking. check what your cpu/gpu usage is and if your cpu/gpu is thermal throttling. and check if you have any demanding background applications open. Also im running a 1080ti and had some problems with bad framerates i fixed it by updating the graphics cards driver . so i would start by updating your graphics cards drivers.

thanks man,

so just downloaded CPUID + HW Monitor. It is showing my last CPU utilization at 100% when running the game, damn I thought the 3820 would have some life left in it... I take it that is where the bottleneck is? Using Win10 on board monitoring I can only see the last 60 seconds, but again, that hit 100%.

I'm already O'C to 4.2ghz, from 3.6 stock. Is it worth pushing it harder if my max temps are only 65 deg?

OC your CPU further will do nothing. The DRM in AC:O need more than the CPU can provide. It sucks but there is nothing you can do other than get a new CPU or Ubisoft disable the DRM.

I got a 1070 and my CPU  is constantly near 100% usage on Ultra and Very high so I set my setting down to Medium and now it's around 95% and does't crash anymore.

Really crappy optimised but great game.

Strange. My CPU usage is only 60% with a 6700k and a gtx 1080 at 1440p. I can max it 60fps with no microstutter at all. I have not noticed the DRM affecting anything performance wise. My case must just be special lol.

Maybe I've got another issue but I think you are lucky because I've seen quite some steam reviews with i7 6700k's that have the same CPU throttle problem. I think it's a sad attempt by Ubisoft to stop torrenting, I used to torrent games and if I liked it like AC games I bought them on steam sales or in a Humble Bundle but now that I work I instantly bought this AC where they fucked the way I started my way into the series.
