I have a gigabyte GTX 1080 gaming G1 and waiting arrival of my refunded 8700k would the cpu bottleneck?

At 720? Probably. At 1080? No. Does it matter? Not really.

No gpu is usually the bottleneck especially in 4k and 1440p

no, some games do like more than 6 cores 12 threads they are rare but they do exist.

Will it bottleneck to some extend? Probably. On like.. 720p

But you know what. It's the fastest gaming CPU ever made so you don't have anything to compare it to.

It's the best choice for gaming and productivity right now. (Yes, this CPU shreads through Adobe Premiere like a champ)

Also streaming is no problem. Awesome CPU.

In this case "best CPU for gaming" means that it will get the highest performance on average than any other CPU, and that is true.

Just because one game out of 50000 games performs better on a 6950X does not mean that the 6950X is a better CPU for gaming.

true but some types like simulators run better on more core cpus.
