Memory Problem Help.

I was having BSOD errors quite frequently. I managed to fix the error by removing 16gb of ram and going back to the original 16gb I had before upgrading to 32gb. I was wondering if you guys think it is faulty RAM or RAM slots? The BSOD was kind of random and 32gb would work off and on so I am unsure. Thanks for taking the time to read.

what type of system are you running ( specs like cpu/gpu/memory speeds and brands, ETC) Have you checked the motherboards QVL to see if the RAM your trying to use has been tested in a 32GB configuration?

Are all the sticks of ram identical or are they two different sets?

The stop codes varied but I managed to read two that said KMODE_EXECEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. Nothing ever said memory specifically. Both kits were ordered to match. I ordered one kit 2x8 and then ordered the exact same kit a few months later. BSOD happened quite frequent. During game and while watching simple browser videos. It even BSOD when just sitting on the desktop.

I don't poke around in the BIOS when it comes to manually setting values. Everything was set to auto from the manufacturer. I can definitely reinstall them tomorrow and check.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had to go out of town, sorry. I inserted the 16gb and checked the timings. They were correct. I also check with XMP enabled and they were correct again. I know this issue is what is causing my BSOD because I haven't had the extra 16gb in for a few weeks and I have had no issues.
