Mining with my CPU on nicehash

I have a ryzen 7 1700 and 1070 that I mainly use for gaming and editing, the 1700 is OC'd at 3.65 GHZ on stock cooler, is it worth it to mine with it along with my 1070?

No, mining with a cpu, without an integrated gpu such as intel, is not worth is at all. Even mining with an intel chip is not worth it.

it still isn't worth it, your CPU will start to degrade before you really even see any cash that will help you buy anything (other pc parts, etc.)

Thanks to the recent inflation of bitcoin, an R7 1700 does pretty decent at mining. GPU mining is still better for the dollar but an 1700 is still a nice supliment, just don’t keep it overclocked too hard that you struggle to keep it cool.

 

OP, assuming your voltage isn’t set too high, and you keep the chip adequately cooled, it doesn’t hurt to.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

you cant mine with integrated graphics, none of the mining programs support it.

From the perspective of some one who just started mining back in June

I have witnessed Bitcoin do some really crazy things

Starting with the Hard Fork to China banning it then returning back in the law 

during which period Bitcoin has gone from 3.8K USD to to 2.4K when china banned it to Skyrocketing to 7K after re allowing it

which made my 50 bucks turn into a 100 

It is a real gamble just have in mind that you can lose everything in a blink of an eye

 

All by mining with my GTX 950 and Core i5-4460

I say it is worth trying with your current setup

ive been mining since june with a 480, a 390 and my cpu is 8320 am3....i get about 5 dollars a day and whoever said that the cpu will degrade has no idea what they are talking about

CPU mining could be worth it provided you understand you are probably mining at a loss.  (due to power costing more than you make or ROI being years away)
Most modern day CPU's won't have to much issue running for hours and hours, just keep the thermals in check. I personally don't like my CPU going over 65c. But the lower you can get yours the better.

I started basically with the same question as you, Should I mine or shouldn't I mine. I decided to give it a go and it has been a fun learning experience. A nice little hobby to have.
Try it out for a week or more and reevaluate if you think it is worth your time and effort in doing so.

If mining doens't work out, try folding@home or Boinc.

What are you talking about? The algos don't use the iGPU at all. Yes it is profitable if you have lots of cores. A 6800K at 4.4ghz is about to the same amount as a 1060

I use my 1700x @ 3.9ghz on top of my two 1070's when im not home. I mean it's odd CPU usage doesn't go above 60% and HWmonitor reports it at 86.70 watts consumption like this and only reaches temps of max 47c but mines at an average rate of $1 to $1.15.

HW Monitor shows only 10-14 threads are used by nicehash. Maybe something to make sure your system doesn't lock up, or a limitation of the miner?

Yeah cryptonight is cach limited so you won't hit 100% reach thread needs about 2mb of cach memery.
