[Build log - Completed build] Camouflaged Gold - Custom loop with Brass tubing - Fractal Design Define Mini C TG

Camouflaged Gold

First of all, this build was finished a few days ago. I wasnt planing on doing a build log but I did take some bad quality photos during the build process with my phone that I thought I could share with you. Further down you can find better quality pictures of the finished build.

I felt it was time for a new build!
This time i chose a colorscheme that is a bit unusual. I got the idea when i stumbled over Bitspower new brass tubing.
This time I decided to go with Fractal Designs Define Mini C TG. A very nice case with a glass side panel and room for a mATX motherboard.

A lot of work is done with acrylic, in gold and transparent colours, that is cut to size and then dressed in vinyl. After that I cut out a few patterns in them with a scalpel, that way exposing the gold. I also added a small display to monitor the water temperature in the loop.

If you want to see a sneak peak of the completed build you can do that here

Trying out different lengths of the reservoir. In the end this turned out to be to long.

IMG_20170927_202355.thumb.jpg.4c5dfb98a4f6ac1b4c76cbead0077237.jpg

This 150 mm one was a better fit.

IMG_20171001_215848.thumb.jpg.8b217879fb1dfbf4198a4dfd5a5332ed.jpg

Cut out a few more acrylic panels. :-)

The front panel of the case is clean. And a bit booring. I decided to do something about that.

IMG_20171006_155807.thumb.jpg.70f99687c356beb70bfd030507a7821a.jpg

This is the front panel after i dressed it in a metallic gold vinyl, and then a camouflage vinyl over that. After that I cut out a tree shape with a scalpel.

IMG_20171006_180614.thumb.jpg.55a6276c1c8129d80853b5a51a66792e.jpg

Expanded a hole in the case near the top to be able to mount a pass through fitting later.

IMG_20171006_180944.thumb.jpg.025ebc7c37d7d5bd1de99ac20f6b4895.jpg

Just testfitting the motherboard with CPU-block before proceeding.

I don't exactly agree with some of the component choices, but the aesthetics are absolutely top notch. Kudos to you, sir.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Thank you guys! :-)

Regarding the components, I was on a somewhat tight budget, so the top end hardware have to wait a bit.
