What wrong with my pc

This may sound weird but this is actually really good for me. I finally am sure now the CPU is bottlenecking my 1080. I am going to buy the I7 7700k.

Not worth it, you'd be spending $300 to unlock hyperthreading on your CPU

First things first, it's more than capable as a CPU for gaming, just not 144hz gaming, is your monitor even 144hz? Also just small side note, kind of a waste to run a 1080 at 1080p

2nd the game you're playing needs to make use of more than 4 threads, which some games still won't scale past, so I would suggest, just sucking it up until Ryzen Revision 2, where that $300 will go a long way, hopefully 6 cores/12 threads hitting 4.5ghz, but we'll have to see

https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/2792-intel-i5-7600k-review-ft-2500k-3570k-more/page-3

Although I do remember seeing testing for BF1 that showed scaling with single channel vs dual channel RAM

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I'm sorry I couldn't save you. a 580/1060 would have been more than capable at that resolution/refresh rate.

On the bright side a 4k 60hz monitor ain't too bad of an upgrade.

So I need to buy a screen with 144 hz and a higher resolution?

Your CPU is good for 60hz gaming, but only really esports games will run at 144fps or above, and lighter AAA games like Wolfenstein

Your GPU is mostly there for 4k at medium/high settings

You can use DSR to get better quality 1080p, run the game at 4k and downscale it, but that takes a lot more GPU horse power.

You should probably save your money for a far future CPU upgrade to like Ryzen Revision 2 unless intel starts cutting prices on the 8700K instead of wasting it on a 7700K

Or get a 4k 60hz display and get better detail in your games, or a 1080p 144hz display if you play a lot of CS:GO, both of those are free-sync though as it's far cheaper.

It's the same deal as 1080p 144hz, Pixio makes a solid 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync display at $399
https://pixiogaming.com/collections/monitors/products/new-px277

This is the last gen one

And GN has a video on 1440p 144hz gaming, but save your CPU money in any case.

Don't change your hardware until next gen CPUs are out, Namely Ryzen Revision 2

for the display, either upgrade to 4k 60hz or something 144hz, probably 1080p 144hz just to see if you care about 144hz as it's only $200 to get the experience. or better yet $250 for this 1080p 144hz VA display, which has better color than a TN display
https://www.amazon.com/FreeSync-1920x1080-Samsung-Professional-Monitor/dp/B072K3Z5NC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1500993415&sr=8-1&keywords=pixio+px245c&linkCode=sl1&tag=jokerprodu03-20&linkId=a84b9c9014cccccf3f7e55c410213958

I have one but I don't really notice the difference in most games, but that's just me.

Basically maybe change your monitor, your hardware is mostly fine assume there's nothing wrong with it, your FPS in AAA games is like still 100fps isn't it?

When you get the 2nd stick of RAM probably reinstall windows then and make sure it's in dual channel

here's some results with that set up, should be 100fps in Ghost recon by their numbers
