1070Ti vs Vega 56

So I'm looking to get a new GPU, and I've got it narrowed down to the two in the title. However, the monitor I'll be using (34UC79G-B) is a 144Hz + Freesync panel. So should I go for a reference 56 (€400) and Freesync, or shell out for a custom board (maybe a FTW2?) which is €430, to actually take advantage of the high refresh rate?

Basically, Freesync vs 144Hz.

You'll have 144Hz either way. It's not as if Vega 56 isn't powerful enough to run it.

Get the Vega card and enjoy FreeSync and the 144Hz refresh rate.

1070ti, the vega 56 is like a 1060 or 1050 ti when it comes to performance.

What? Have you even seen the benchmarks? The 56 matches the 1070 in pretty much everything.

Vega 56 is actually a tiny bit better than a 1070 in terms of performance and it will most likely gain more in the future due to drivers and game optimizations for new tech in the Vega architecture.

Yeah but for price to preformance,1070ti is cheaper at 450 to 500. The vega is 500-550.

Conversion rates means I can get a 56 for €360

Vega 56 because your panel is Freesync.

Either way, I'd maybe try get the 64. I struggled to hit 144fps on some games when I had a 1070(granted, these were big titles) @ 1080p, letalone an ultrawide.

The 1070. We don't know exact performance numbers for the 1070Ti but assuming it's between the 1070 and the 1080, they should be around the same on average and considering OP's monitor has FreeSync, Vega 56 is a better choice here. Although that's assuming that it's actually close to the MSRP and not at a ridiculously elevated price.

1070 Ti benches should be out Wednesday, so you should wait for those.

My vote goes to the Vega 56 since you have a 1440 and Freesync panel.

1. Higher price doesn't suddenly mean Vega 56 performs like a 1060 or 1050 ti...

2. Vega 56 prices have actually stabilized and you can now find them in the $400-$450 range.

I like how everyone is saying vega 56 but doesnt take into account if the price of that is inflated still or can he even get 1 considering its being knabbed by miners everywhere.

Vega 56 performs just a slight bit better than the gtx 1070, not a gtx 1050ti. check reviews next time instead of making false claims.

From my knowledge, the Vega 56 performs a little less than the 1070 and the 64 performs a little less than the 1080. The 1070ti is pretty much a 1080 without the GDDR5X ram and GDDR5 Ram. The I don't really understand the difference between the X version and the non X but I'm sure its a negligible performance increase. So the performance would probably go something like this 1080 > Vega 64 =?= 1070ti > 1070 > Vega 56
