6700K to 8700K Worth Upgrade?

Fyfey96

Hey.

I currently have a 6700K OC at 4.6GHz.

I do a lot of video editing work and was wondering if an upgrade to an 8700K would be a worthwhile upgrade for the 2 extra cores I would of course need a new motherboard too but I currently have 32GB of RAM that would work fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’m sure there is also some more benefits over my Z170 Motherboard.

Thanks,

Alistair

That's a lot more money though. An 8700K does show a decent enough improvement for the cost IMO.

since you are a video editor then I would definitely go for the upgrade, or even save for a better i9 in the future which will really help benefit you.

Thanks for the suggestions. My work flow isn’t hindered at the moment I guess. It works for me. The cost of the i9 is a bit greater and would be harder to justify because I would then like to get quad channel memory. But with 8700K I can use Memory I have now. Also a friend I know got an i9 pc through his work and he said he has problems with premier pro and I was thinking that the i9 May be a little over kill and Adobe is not optimised to handle it.
