Need Help! Overclock settings.

Hey,

I just Overclocked my system

SPECS:

Ryzen 5 1600

Gskill trident z RGB 3200

Gtx 1070

MSI B350 Tomahawk

I was able to Overclock my CPU to 3.9 GHz and memory to 3200 but when in restarted my system and went into BIOS,the CPU frequency was showing 3900,but DDR speed was still 2133,I enabled the XMP on my motherboard, but still can't get past 2133.

Please Help.

This is my first pc build.

Thanks.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-TOMAHAWK.html#down-bios - Watch the video above the link on how to flash bios.

If the bios reverts itself to 2133, it's because either the CPU or Memory overclock failed. (Any memory overclock above 2666 for Ryzen is considered an overclock). I'd suggest trying to overclock one or the other, one at a time. Update the bios, then try clocking the ram appropriately while leaving the CPU at stock frequency. Many Ryzen users can't achieve 3200MHz and are forced to downclock to 3066, 2933, 2800, or 2666. There's not a noticeable difference unless you do a lot of memory benchmarking.

Once you're positive your ram is stable (several passes of Memtest86), then move on to CPU overclocking. Start with something small, like 3.7GHz. Test stability with Aida64's System Stability Test checking the first three boxes to stress (CPU / FPU / Cache). If you can run that for at least 1 hour, then bump the frequency to 3.8 and try again.
