V-Sync, RivaTuner, and Screen Tearing

Septimus

Recently got my hands on a GTX 980, but I've noticed slightly more screen tearing in Rust than I was in the past with a GTX 970. Should I use something like RivaTuner to limit my fps to my monitor's refresh rate (60Hz)? Or should I enable something like V-Sync. How much input lag would V-Sync create on my system?

CPU: i7-4790K

GPU: MSI GTX 980

RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz

Probably because you're getting more FPS you could use vsync to limit your FPS or turn some settings up, input lag wise it's quite a bit noticeable for most.

unless you can't stand the tearing I'd avoid using vsync but thats me..

That's where RivaTuner comes in, I've heard that it is able to effectively limit the fps but maintain or add only very small amounts of latency.

Thanks for the input!

You need to enable Vsync if not tearing will still happen even on locked FPS.
