Kraken X62 question

 Share

My case has two tempered glass panels so I'm trying to sort my cable management out.

The kraken X62, as owners would know, has one cable that goes into CPU AIO fan (3pin fan header) and one ridiculously thick, irremovable cable that is a SATA power cable / fan splitter.

My question is, does the pump get powered by the SATA, or the 3-pin fan header? I would prefer to not have to add in another sata power to my powersupply just to power the pump. I'll be controlling the fans separate so I don't need to use the fan splitters.

Thanks again guys:)

Pumps are never connected to the SATA port.

Usually they connected via the fan header or a molex connector.

Yes they are.

That's a sata power connector ^^^^ with all the pins.

And here are the X62's cables, also powered by sata:

I meant the port on mobo ... but yeah they can be powered by the sata power connector from the psu... I should have more specific on that point. /shrug

Well to answer OP's question, yes the pump is powered by sata and not the fan header :)

So what's the fan header for then? It just goes from the block to the pump.

To tell your PC what rpm the pump is running at, and to adjust the speed.

Damn, your right, the pump doesn't work without SATA. Rip cable management.
