Want to build a cheap system with some requirements.

I want to build a new system under 500$ when x-mas rolls around, and hopefully, I can get the details straight so we have a fixed price.

Requirements:

2GB GDDR3 or GDDR5 VRAM

Quad-core or six core proccesor (preferably AMD)

8 - 16 GB of DDR3 or DDR4 ram

1TB Storage

16 GB SSD Boot device

500$ or under

Why Are We Still Here? Just to Suffer?

Total : 522$ (492$ after 30$ in mail in rebates)

With socket AM4, you'll still be able to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 (4 / 6 core and multithreading at a later time) or a Ryzen 7 (6/8 core and multithreading) when you have more money). Intel requires changing motherboards for the 8th series processors, and probably 9th series will also need new motherboards, so you get better upgrade path with AM4

Optionally, you could go for an older generation AMD x4 950 (quad core 3.5 Ghz) for 60$ : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113456

It's lower performance than Ryzen 3 1200, i would say it's comparable to an Intel i3-6100 in performance but you're saving 50$ this way, which can go in the graphics card budget giving you a more balanced computer when it comes to gaming ... up to 130$ will get you a more powerful GTX 1050

110$ : EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 SC GAMING, 02G-P4-6152-KR, 2GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487296

(and a bunch of others around this price with GTX 1050 chip, but you should look for cards with 3 GB or 4 GB of memory)

110$ : (90$ after mail in rebate) : PowerColor RED DRAGON Radeon RX 560 DirectX 12 AXRX 560 4GBD5-DHAM 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131731

You could also spend 10-15$ more and go for a WD Blue 2 TB drive, you'll use that 1 TB of data in no time and it's a shame spending 50$ for 1 TB when you add 10-15$ and get double that.
