Don’t hate me after reading this

So I just built a ryzen 1800x workstation.

i spent 1 hour deleding and applying liquid metal and this is what I got.

an huge overclock of 5.4 ghz on all 8 cores

only 0.25 increase in voltage

cpu goes max to 78 degrees under full load

cinebench is 2400+

It is WORTH THE RISK

I have to say I'm very skeptical, both because a) Ryzen going much if anything past about 4.1 is basically unheard of unless you're on LN2 or something, and b) these chips are not designed in a way that delidding should really make a noticeable difference.

 

Sorry but you're going to have to prove this for me to believe it.

screenshots or it didn't happened...most ryzen have a hard time being stable at 4 ghz...now 5.4...that would be a world record i think...

Ryzen processors use SOLDER (indium  based) to attach the lid to the die.  There's no thermal paste inside.

 

So basically, there's very little point into delidding a ryzen cpu .. you can see below threadripper / epyc delid , and you can see the super thin layer of gold on the lid which is required for indium solder to stick to (indium solder doesn't work well on aluminum / whatever the lid is made out of)

 

So unless you use liquid metal between the lid and the cooler i sincerely doubt you did what you say in the first post.

 

ps.. and only 0.25 increase in voltage... 0.25 what... over 1.35v or what voltage... the max safe voltage is 1.42

 

post a cpu-z screenshot or record the screen with your phone (as you can edit the cpu-z picture in ms paint to troll us)

1) deliding Ryzen is BS, i would wanna see anyone doing it properly, d8r ruined 2 R7s doing that

2) 5.4GHz is total BS because even Flank3r reached 5.2GHz on LN2

 

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

Seems totally legit, with that mild OC result there´s no need to prove anything ;). Damn if I´d known you earlier I could have saved some bucks by skipping a delidded 7820X :(.

And there is no way to get 5,4GHz overclock on air/water cooling.
