Nvidia Gamestream or Similar

Gex

So my PC desk is in my living room and I would like to play some games on my TV but it's close to the couch not the TV and I can't really run an HDMI cable across the room, so I'm thinking of getting a Shield so I can do Gamestream, but I'm wondering if I use an xbox controller direct to the PC instead of connecting to the Shield and if it would make any difference to the input lag, which from what I have read is only a little noticeable.

It is but I've heard quality is a bit better on Gamestream, and Shield has a 4K 60fps option

any streaming thing really has some delay which sucks , its better to just find a way to draw a hdmi cable under the floor or somthing :v ( i know u said u cant. maybe u can find a way xD )

Hmm, I guess I could give it some more thought, the videos I've seen suggest the input lag is pretty minimal, I'm not exactly a pro gamer but at the same time I'd like to make sure it's not going to be too annoying.

well ppl said the lag is minimal ... ive tried many streaming shit and everytime i go straight back to the cable bcoz the input delay is annoying af, if they say its minimal they are just trying to sell the product or somthing because trust me its annoying ( or they are just blind to input lag and dont even notice the difference with vsync enabled or off... and u know how extreme that delay is xD )

streaming was more intended for videos and movies, not for gaming

for playing an rpg like final fantasy it should be k tho

however for any game that requires input skill ( u know wht i mean with that xD ) its a big fat NO

and trust me i been trying streaming with having my stuff literally next to the router, one machine cabled and one wireless... the lag was insane ( well playable for rpgs but yeh i wouldnt wanna play tekken on that xd)

I have a steam link in the bedroom upstairs and the input lag is near non existent. I think I'm just feeling the input lag of the tv itself since I'm switching from a 144hz monitor. I feel the same type of input lag when using the tv in the living room with a hdmi cable.
Can recommend steam link if you can run it wired.

You're wrong here, I use steam link and it's fine on a wired connection. It's shitty that it never worked for you, but don't just disregard everyone else because something never worked for you.

That sounds pretty promising, I guess I could use powerline adapters (data transfer trough your homes plug outlets) they pretty much have the same latency as a normal Ethernet connection.

I guess I'm going to just have to get one and try it for myself.

I can only speak for a solid single wire from router to steam link though bear in mid. So if you have problems you should try to get it setup with 1 ethernet cable. You can get pretty long ones for very cheap online.
