Wait what, regular price is marked at $369. Just checked on amazon and prices are rising again! I just want my sub-$200 32GB ram again... Just a few weeks ago, some so-dimms with the same spec as this deal were going for $250, and were $220 a few months before that. Now they are $330! These ram prices are killing me more than GPU miner inflation.

I know.

When I got my ram I paid around 70-80 for 2 sticks of 8 gb vengence 3000mhz. Now it costs around 140-150 for the same set if not a lesser speed.

Should have bought more...

I agree, RAM prices have gone out of control. >:(

Please, RAM manufacturers & vendors! When can I buy another of this

Screenshot_20170502-230543.png.32f2e9f7afc15d344e898a87923ce5dd.png

at that price or lower?  I need it for my laptop. :(

And, Intel, AMD, and whoever's making decisions on RAM support for future platforms, like DDR5:  PLEASE don't just step the next platform up by 2x to 128GB for mainstream or 256GB for HEDT.  I'd like at least as big of a jump factor with my future platform, as I have with my current one.  (Part of it is due to only having a 32-bit OS on the previous system.)

  1. My previous desktop had 4GB DDR2 RAM, although only 3GB was usable.
  2. After it died, I used my dad's laptop, which has 2GB DDR2 RAM.  (It could support 4, but 32-bit XP would likely limit it to 3.)
  3. My current desktop has and supports 32GB DDR3.
  4. My current laptop has 40GB DDR4 and supports 64GB.

Smallest jump (1 -> 3) would be 32 / 3 = 10.667 * 32 = 341.333, or ~ 320 or 384 GB.

Largest jump (2 -> 4) would be 64 / 2 = 32 * 64 = 2048 GB, or 2 TB.

At minimum, I'd like 512GB, preferably 1TB, supported on mainstream with DDR5, before considering ECC / LRDIMMs or similar.  Or, maybe a quadrupling in capacity every 2 or 3 years, at least until it catches up to HDDs in capacity & $/TB, or Optane or equivalent or SSDs render RAM unneeded anymore.

Also I'd want to max it out for the same price I maxed my desktop DDR3 system.

I don't see how SO-DImm with a cas of 15 and 2400Hz  3000 would be slower than a desktop counterpart beyond memory controller differences.

It wont fit in his desktop for one. And:

(15/3000)*2000= 10 ns

and then:

(14/2133)*2000=13.17.

Slower and binned worse so no overclocking.

I believe that's desktop RAM linked in the OP.  It's Corsair LED, not LPX.

I thought LPX refers to low profile, still desktop ram regardless though.

Yah, if your comparing a set of 2133 to a 3000, but if we're talking about ram both set to the same speed, then there should be little to no difference. Also max ram speed and memory OCing is determined by the chipset and not the ram itself.

At this point its kinda hard to tell how much of it is price gouging rather than all on flash module supplies.

I'd call it price gouging either way.  Either by retailers marking up prices, or memory makers reducing supply to drive up prices (which I wish was illegal), or both, or it could be somethingelse as well.

Then why do they show the RAM installed in an HEDT desktop motherboard with a water-cooled CPU?

What's going on with those prices.

16GB DDR4 3200MHz ram that I bought in April for 120€ is now at almost 200€.

Was just casually thinking of going to 32GB RAM, but I'm not paying that much for it ffs
