Adobe has trial that you can test. Not sure how long tho. If you want a free video editing software, I'd suggest looking at Hitfilm Express.

why spend money on software if you are just starting ? that money might be better spent on a decent video camera and equippment (tripod and lights) because good source material is more important than a lot of fancy filters and effects IMO

i use shotcut as my video editor because it's free and available on win, mac and linux.

Adobe CC (which stands for creative cloud) is the newest version, which always updates because a subscription model. It's like 20 euros a month if I remember correctly

@Dogsparky

It's a thirty day trial on Premiere.

Hitfilm is pretty good, Da Vinci resolve is a good free editor too.

I you want Adobe, I highly recommend monthly subscription. You can crack it no problem, but updates and Adobe cloud aren't there so it sucks in the long run.

I second the suggestion for Hitfilm Express because it's free and covers the vast majority of features you'll need.

Also remember that sound quality is important in videos. Even if your video is in 8k, poor sound will drive viewers away.

I edit my posts a lot.

If you just want to start a YouTube channel, don't pay for the best. Download Davinci Resolve, it's perfectly capable. If you need more when/if your channel gains traction, then buy Premiere.

YES buy a decent mic before any investments into software.

Also try and have your videos at least decent quality 1080p (most modern smartphones are good enough tbh)

I would say its content first, equipment second. Decent mic can be just $5-10 table mic. Decent camera could be $25 webcam, laptop webcam or just phone. Look at what MKBHD did when he started. Or what WAN shows were back in the day. You don't need anything but content to start. That goes with editor too. Resolve is good pick to learn basics and move to Premier or Vegas if needed.

that lead me to believe you are planning on actually using adobe premiere - for wich you would need to buy either a subscription or the regular one time payment

the trials, i want to use the trials and get used to stuff, though i won't be using a camera at all, rather use the trials at first and see how they are, and they seem easy enough to use, but rather use the free stuff first to get everything setup, make a quick and simple intro and use the more expensive stuff later, at some point i will get a camera but that will be years from now, don't really need one

really liking adobe photoshop right now, blender is a bit annoying for me but it is the only thing i know of at the moment that can make 3D images that can move and i can transfer them into something like an intro
