How to improve my typing speed and accuracy

kelvinhall05

So, I already type (I think) pretty fast. I usually get mid 70s to mid 80s, sometimes I'll get 90s, and occasionally I'll get over 100wpm consistently. I think this is fast enough, but I want to learn how to get faster, and how to improve my accuracy. Thanks!

Well for starters, make sure to use proper capitalization and punctuation.

cuz if u get rel gud @ typing like ur txting it means nothing. (For most typing tests at least.)

Otherwise there are other keyboards that don't use the qwerty layout which allow for much faster WPM. Judging by your scores though, you first need to get more accurate. (99% or higher)

That's pretty fast already. Typeracer is a nice fun way. Just get used typing with the correct fingers, I cheat a little because typing a letter with one finger may be more comfortable for me than another.

Practice, just typing in general is the only way to get better

I always use proper grammar. I try to work on my accuracy, but it's like my fingers don't want to listen.

I feel ya. I realize I also do better typing on a mechanical keyboard rather than membrane keys like on a laptop.

Another tip is to learn how to focus on reading, rather than typing. Once you have most words memorized (spelling and what not) it helps a ton. As you can see where I underlined my 2 major errors, the first one was because my brain told me you spell crafing instead of craving, and the second big error was I forgot to capitalize a letter (even though I thought I had).

Just practice, repetition and over time your typing will be more accurate and efficient.

If you have any bad habits like I do, try to train them out. When I type, I tend to use all five of my fingers on my left hand, and touch type with my right. Slowly I've tried to train that out of me, but it takes some serious practice after being able to type rather quickly (95-105wpm) when doing so.

This is actually where I got a lot of my practice, believe it or not. In two years of playing Minecraft, I went from 60wpm to my current 95-105. Being able to reply fast and type commands in half a second were very beneficial to the MC experience.
