Which Wireless Network Card Is Better? First Build Help.

Hi,

 

I am building my first (gaming) PC. At first, I was going to buy a TP Link wireless network card but two people have recommended a Gigabyte wireless network card because it supports AC. I don't know what AC is - I'm guessing that it is not alternating current.

Maximum Budget - £1000

1080p // at least 60 fps // high settings.

TP-link N900 is a good option, I have had one for three years and have had no issues in any operating system. Windows 2000,XP,Vista,7,8.1,10; ubuntu, OS X etc. Just make sure that you don't use the utility that it comes with as that is bad, but everything else about it is fine.

Both are fine but TP link is more reliable

This is what is meant by AC.

whatever you do DO NOT get that gigabyte one, i had it and it has severe intel chipset issues which cause it to give you latency spikes.

Ive used the TPLink card before. It did pretty well gaming. Now my mom uses it for her machine. The only issue I see, if TPLink no longer supports the card driver wise. So you have to rely on Microsoft drivers. Which I figure that should be fine.

You use the utility built in to Windows. Never use any third party utilities, as Windows can handle it.

I have the Gigabye card and it worked great... until I updated to Windows 10 Creators.  After the update I have had countless driver issues where it will drop out until I have to disable and reenable the card.  Sometimes it wont even connect when I boot up windows.  I have reinstalled the drivers many times and no luck.  About to give up and run an ethernet cable outside my house.  My friend however, has the TPLink card and has had no issues other than it not fully saturating his gigabit internet.  Should be good for normal internet though.
