Installing Windows 10 via external USB DVD Drive?

Hey guys,

 

since I kinda can´t get myself a bootable USB Drive for Windows but a perfectly fine DVD, my question is if it is possible to install Windows through a external USB DVD Drive?

 

Before you ask I created this DVD a while back to upgrade to Windows 10 and still had a 5,25" drive but my new case doesn´t

I think you can do that, but why can't you get a boot USB? that is really easy.

I know, and that´s exactly what makes feel really stupid. But all 4 8GB USB sticks I tried after formatting them gave me random errors in the media creation tool

 

So I took the option for an ISO file and created a DVD

strange, did you try different USB ports? it seems unlikely that 4 random USB sticks are all broken

Yes but only the case ones. Not on my motherboard. That might actually be the issue
