Hello,

Sometimes when playing games, I heard some chirping noise and it was my PSU. And suddenly, my monitor went blank (as it doesn't get signal from my PC). The game sound still running at the background for few seconds and after that it started to freeze, had to force restart the PC.

What I've done to find out the problem:

  1. Check PSU voltages via software (Read output 8V from 12V rail). To double confirm, I checked with my voltmeter and it gave me output reading of 12.xxV from 12V rail so I assume the software reading was inaccurate.
  2. Stressing my GPU using Furmark, looks normal 98% GPU usage with 75 degrees celsius temp.
  3. Then I began to stress my CPU at the same time with GPU and the GPU usage dropped down to 50%, and the chirping noise from PSU began. Is this bottleneck or something problem with my unit?

Thank you.

Software readings are never accurate but that is a big one, however it sounds like just a case of coil whine either from the GPU and PSU when underload. It's nothing to worry about other than being a little annoying.
