Wanting a first camera for my photography/videography needs. Right now I can get a used Sony A6000 with the kit lens and the 55-210mm for $800 CAD. The A6300 with kit lens is $1400 w/out tax. Is the used bundle a good deal? Should I spring for the newer 6300? I'm really interested in the 4k and slo-mo and also just holding both cameras in the store made me really want the 6300. I was pretty much set on getting the used bundle until now after holding both and seeing the new features on the a6300. Thoughts?

Please note yes this is my first camera however I have a lot of experience already with using DSLRs from borrowing friends and family's cameras and what not so being "beginner friendly" shouldn't be a consideration. I want this camera to last for quite awhile.

I'd get the A6300 because you will shoot video. It has a lot of improvements over the A6000 when talkikng video. Stills quality are pretty equal but video features is a lot differenet and better on the A6300. You also get a slightly better AF system and the very improved EVF. So really, if you can afford it I'd go with the A6300.

In your place, I'd go with something from panasonic like the g7, I'm not sure the a6300 is the best option for a videographer (there are those overheating issues...), if you were to go for the a6500, that would be a different story, but, I'm sure that would be stretching it.

The a6300 is indeed an improvement in many respects over the a6300, including adapter performance which can be vastly important for sony users due to the lack of and cost of native glass, especially for APS-C sensors.

May I suggest a middle route (sort of) which is you going for a refurbished or used gh4? I believe it is superior for video to the a6300 and matches if not surpasses the a6500, lenses can be adapted to it from other brands and even has a larger (somewhat) selection of native glass.

I have both cameras and I'd go with the a6300. The EVF is way better and drives me nuts with the a6000. Also you get another program button which comes in handy. Weather sealing also is a plus, not that it was an issue in the a6000 for me. Oh and you get better dynamic range so that is also a nice plus. It's just a better camera and you can pick up the 55-210 used for kinda cheap on eBay. Haha I'm actually selling my a6000 now since I use the a6300 so much more.

I am pretty sure the overheating is only a issue in hot places/when in direct sunlight. Don't quote me on it.

If autofocus is important, DO NOT get gh4, gh4s autofocus sucks ass.
