1 to start but 2 is the end goal

5. Why are you upgrading?

Razer(2013) Laptop outdated and cant keep up

Here's 2 builds I've been considering

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/34WFNN

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/zZNdVY

Not sure if i should go with the Intel or AMD more familiar with Intel but everyone seems to prefer AMD for the cost effectiveness and in multi tasking.

Also contemplating a 1080 instead of the Ti just unsure if it will be enough for the 144/165hz monitors

Monitor is also up for discussion I loved the looks of the Asus ROG Swift PG278QR/PG279Q  but the price is quite high. Also somewhat confused on the TN/ISP will I notice the 1ms or 4ms difference and is it worth the extra $

ROG Strix GPU was chosen mostly for the quietness, temp and aesthetics

Color Scheme goal is Black/Purple/Green

Any general feedback is appreciated still fairly new when it comes to PC parts so i might be investing to much where is not needed or not enough.

Go for the AMD one

TN panels have a fast response time, which doesn't really matter IMO, and they also have horrible angles and eh colors, IPS on the other hand have great colors and viewing angles so I would strongly recommend going for IPS > TN

Tbh I haven't really looked into anything on what I'm going to do for streaming, computer now isn't capable so I've been waiting till I upgrade to start that journey. Any modular PSU you would recommend?

well what games are you planning on playing? because my 1070 can get those fps numbers for those monitors in games like overwatch.

Overwatch, PUBG, WOW, Anthem, Destiny 2, Hearthstone pretty much any solid fps and some mmorpgs mixed in, making the switch from console because mouse>controller and PC master race

Darn, modular-ness really increases price at this wattage... This is quite a bit more expensive, but I recommend it: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/y88H99/evga-supernova-g3-650w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-220-g3-0650

Unless you don't care about modular-ness, in which case the the PSU you have now should be good.

I was kinda leaning towards ISP well my thoughts were I'd take the hit on quality to save money but in the long run I don't think it'd be worth especially if I'm watching anything on the PC

I think I originally had that PSU and swapped it for the cheaper one not fully understanding the difference and I think you're right I should go modular

R7 for streaming and gaming.  1080ti for 2 monitor 144hz at 1440p.  I think most on this forum will agree.

What do you think of the MOBO on the R7 build, was a toss up between that and the Gigabyte Gaming K7

Do you think ill have problems with the RGB going with the Gigabyte?

Oh yeah, RGB...

Well if you want to make it all work together with one software control then you should get the strix.  The gigabyte is a higher tier board though.

but really It'd just be a difference of 1 program as apposed to 2 programs if I went with the Strix so not like the end of the world I guess, or is it more complicated than that?

No, but the software for this kind of stuff is usually pretty junky.  If it's important to you how the RGB looks, as important as the performance of the system, then do the strix.

i wont be doing any like crazy light shows or anything mostly trying to find easy ways to incorporate the purple and green in so they'd be fairly simple colors to match I would imagine

I'm thinking so yeah, i think I'd have to go to the store in person to actually see the difference for sure but yeah I'm thinking. IPS raises my costs quite a lot especially if I'm doing two monitors though which is unfortunate but hopefully worth it in the long run

pretty much this computer will be about the same has you wanted it before except i changed a few things like hard drives and ram. the hard drives will be better and faster and the ssd will have more space. The ram will be cheaper with it not having the RGB. but if you want the RGB still you could add it but it will add to the price and I lowered the price of the motherboard

though I still think this is a bit overkill and that some stuff could be changed

I do agree you should. If you have the patience everything will be cheaper and it would be worth it.

so many choices makes this super difficult. Even just the Intel vs AMD fight is hard enough haha. From the start I was caught on Intel I just find there so many more choices especially MOBO wise and they match nicely with the GPU but the price difference is very substantial. Intel has new cards coming out right? Think that'll lower the cost of the 7700k?
