You can get a cable like this one

hfiman_crystalline_balanced_xlr_cable_1.jpg.ee1d029f3d422365928e276a1fef8670.jpg

When you use 1/4in the left and right channels share a ground which causes a tiny bit of static that is so small most people would never notice it. When you run balanced it separates the grounds removing the static. It also allows both drivers to receive the exact same amount of signal, hence the name balanced. Some people don't think it makes a big difference, but true audiophiles swear that is sounds better and will spends tons of extra money on it .

probably not, i cant see why the internal wiering wouldnt allow doing what that does

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

So does this mean the Sennheiser hd6xx support this? Pretty sure my schiit fulla 2 dac/amp doesn't though.

Yes the 6XXs support it, but the Fulla 2 doesn't support balanced and doesn't have enough power to drive the HD 6XXs

Really? It could drive my mad dog fostex headphones so I have a hard time believing there is anything it can't drive.

Like you aren't even in the ballpark with the Fulla 2. Remember these are 300ohm headphones. Fulla 2 only outputs 40mw per channel at 300ohm. For the 6XXs 500mw per channel is recommended.

you are WAY off mate. 500mw is how much they can handle and look at how loud they are playing once you pump 500mw into them, nobody should listen to anything near that volume. Hell if you want to listen for longer periods you should keep your volume around 70dB or less.

This is how much power HD 6xx's actually need at different dB levels

Simply go to this website http://www.digizoid.com/headphones-power.html write 300 under impedance, set the sensitivity to 103 and pick dB SPL/V, then you get those numbers. So yes a Fulla 2 can without any problems power them.

PS. OP if you want custom cables and don't want to make them yourself, then I have heard many good things about this shop ursine.audio it is US based.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

You also have to take into consideration the type of music you listen to. If you are listening to the lastest DJ Khaled album your phone will get those headphones loud enough, but if you are listening to say Tchaikovsky: Waltz from Eugene Onegin, Op. 24 which my copy happens to have a -31 db average volume it will take all the Fulla 2 has to get it to safe levels. Also it is never good to run an amp at max volume to limit the amount of distortion. So amplifier headroom is never a bad idea.
