I am going to never buy an AMD card again.

Cosmos1234

I had 3 AMD cards in total:

R7 240

Radeon RX 550

R9 270X (I am currently using this card)

I had so many issues, crashes, freezes with AMD cards. But I always thought the problem was me since i know very little about how to optimize and overclock a GPU.

The AMD driver (Crimson ReLive) is a buggy piece of $h!t which sometimes decides to run in windows vista compatibility mode on its own.Sometimes doesnt even open at all and sometimes causes crashes.

There is a overclock manager in the AMD driver called AMD WattMan.which crashes  under realistic load (Mostly happens in games, temp is fine,no cooling issue) out of random and if that happens, you will have to restart your pc or it will keep crashing when you open a game.I currently cannot play CS:GO because of lag.I had this game running fine a day a ago but now it runs in 10-12 FPS.I did no installs and no updates.I checked for viruses and i closed all the background programs.I disabled Windows Game Mode and Xbox DRM.After that i tried reinstalling all the drivers including AMD drivers,But no luck.I still cannot run even a game simple as CS:GO.At somepoint i thought it was a cpu problem but my cpu was at only %30 load in CS:GO.

Here is my experiences with every individual card :

R7 240:

F**k this card and and f**k me for buying it.

It cant run 2013 games in 720p.

Radeon RX 550 :

Extremely loud even in no load but it runs CS:GO in 200 FPS which is good enough for me.Crashes randomly

R9 270X:

Mostly unusable.Legends say it runs CS:GO in every 300 years.

I like the RX 580, but thats about it. If somebody can hate on it then do, because i want to know of any problems with it.

I play CS:GO comp mostly so I cannot take the risk of a random crash in a game.

HD 7970, HD 5870 and the rather legendary RX 480 are exceptional cards in there own, to which all pioneered into new realms with introducing cheaper mainstream VR options, DX1, and with lasting crushing FineWine performance.

Also no point complaining about Catalyst driver issues, as the new GeForce Experience is on par from my experiences with using both D:

What brands were they? Because I myself have had exactly 1 hit and 1 miss from Gigabyte (but still, their customer support can go and get fucked). I to this day still love my GTX 650ti OC 2GB (which I ran with a 120MHz OC), as even overclocked it ran silent and well under 70oC. While my GTX 970 G1 Gaming while functional, is utter garbage in comparison since its only pro over my old 650ti is performance..and all the cons are quite extreme compared to even reference cards

I buy low end cards because CS:GO isnt a demanding game.

MSI and Asus being problems I could understand-they don't have that good a track record making AMD cards (quality wise mainly), but Powercolor? They normally over engineer their graphics cards so having troubles from them is odd.

Let me get this straight, you're upset that a budget card yielded budget performance?  Like, that was a pretty bottom rung GPU when it was NEW.  It's hardly AMD's fault that it didn't run Crysis at 4K for you...

My HD7950 runs like a champ. But yeah, my HD4830 had shit drivers though out its life. Even the HD7950 had issues when Just Cause 3 was released. Im pretty sure the same asshole who wrote drivers for ATI back in the day, kept his job when AMD bought them. Because I remember having driver issues whit ATI cards all the time.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

it can run it, if OP can keep expectations in check

I've had a few crashes with my 480 but that is mostly due to my overclock not being 100% stable.

I had an EVGA GTX 760 before and it was running on the knife edge of stability out of the box. It was constantly having driver crashes and was obnoxiously loud while trying to run any game no matter how lightweight it is.

The R7 240 is garbage, won't deny that. I wouldn't pay more than $40 for one and that is only if my motherboard has no on board graphics and I don't plan on playing games.

I've never used a 550 but it should be pretty good performance wise. If it is loud that has more to do with the board partner that made the card (or AMD themselves which makes since since reference designs are loud af). If you still have this card you can tweak the fan profile and try under-volting for a cooler running experience, but remember that under-volting can lead to crashes as well.

I have a friend with an R9 270x and was complaining about stuttering and low frame rates in his games so he is looking for something more modern. I don't think this was meant to be a high end card even when it was new.

I am not upset that it couldnt yielded budget performance.I am upset because of the Price/Performance ratio.
