https://pcpartpicker.com/list/

$330 is a different game now

CPU   $156.88       $156.88 OutletPC   Buy

CPU Cooler   Choose A CPU Cooler
Motherboard   $62.99   $2.99   $65.98 Newegg   Buy

Memory   $106.99   FREE   $106.99 Newegg   Buy

Might as well, if you want it right away.

I bought a X58 complete system with i7-920, 1TB, 500W, W7, 16GBDDR3 for $200CAD which is $150USD, so there are great deals out there, but you gotta wait.

Go with the i5-4690, that way you'll get something that works perfectly now and for a little future. Should easily handle a gtx 1060 if you ever want to upgrade.

You are in a dilemma my friend.

My feeling is $250 is your limit.

Buy one of the mobo's I listed on ebay for $100-$150

Snag a Xeon X58 cpu for $35

Thats your only way

Or you may have to buy an old server like the HPZ600 or T3500 and install your $35 Xeon.

Wait what if I just got 1 8gb stick of ddr4. That would come out to about 270 or 280 depending on where i find the ram and if i find some used or not.

Why does it say that they aren't compatible?

Oh I did not see that, sorry.

Potential Issues / Incompatibilities

  • Some Intel H81 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.
