Planning New Build (1080 Ti or Wait for Vega?)

Hey guys. So I'm planning a new build that I will be purchasing within the next week or so. I timed it like this because I was initially waiting for Vega's launch, and was gonna pair the highest end Vega GPU with an Asus Designo 34' ultrawide 100Hz freesync monitor. However with all these rumors going around I'm getting anxious, and the fact that AMD cards get swooped up like crazy for mining doesn't help either. I have been postponing this build since May so I'm really antsy to just get it over with. Should I remain faithful or just cave and get a 1080 Ti that I could pair with an Asus PG279Q 165Hz G-Sync monitor?

 

Rest of the system will be Ryzen 7 1700 and 16gb of RAM

I think because of VEGA being this close you should wait for it, the leaks look promising (it probably will be GTX 1080 like preformance). But if you need a new GPU right now then just get the GTX 1080 ti

WAIT! ok newest leakes show it on 1080 performance levels.

But you never know what the price and final perf is...

Maybe Team Green has to drop the prices

It's a tough call, but I think at this point I'd wait for volta or even, build the rest of the PC, get a cheap-ish 980ti and sell it when volta comes out to finish your build.

 

Or get Vega of course, depends on pricing though IMO, for near 1080 performance it'd have to be cheaper to be worth buying IMO.

That's the thing, atleast for me my built is never complete or finished.

Yeah, I couldn't wait either really, at leasdt not for the main build... for me the GPU is extra, not the main thing, so a bit different if you just game. If it was me I'd defo build it now, but work out a plan for GPU.

I would love to build it now but doesn't Ryzen not have a built in GPU? I don't wanna buy a burner GPU.

Ryzen has no iGPU no, about the burner GPU (the 980ti is a good option) could be quite cheap to run for a few months since you can sell it for about the same price. assuming pricing of a new 980ti doesn't fall to much.

Idk man doing that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm leaning on just waiting for now because I really hate Nvidia's model with G-Sync.

If you can wait, I would definitely do that. What GPU do you have now? I'm guessing its adequate.

Lol I had a GTX 960M on my laptop which I had just sold. I'm stuck with consoles for gaming atm, luckily Persona 5 and Splatoon 2 are awesome.

How complete is your built atm? do you have everything except a GPU?

I haven't bought anything yet, but the CPU, RAM kit, mobo, SSD, HDD, and case are in the cart. I'm still deciding if I need 550w or 650w for the PSU.

It depends of what you're buying as a GPU and if that is going to be just one. also some really cheap ass 650w won't be able to delever the same amount of power on thier 12v rail as a proper 550w PSU, I recommend you take a look at this post. The higher the tier the 'smoother' and 'cleaner' the power. I would suggest a 650w tier 3 PSU.
