USB Flash drive help

TheUncannyScrub

My USB Flashdrive that has all my coursework on it cannot be opened.

I plug it in and it just comes up with Removable Storage G:

when i click to open it crashes windows explorer

similarly when i go to devices and printers and click on it, it also crashes that as well

Any help would be nice!

Try opening in command prompt. A corrupted file might be the cause of it.

When you navigated to the drive letter of the drive, can you see the contents of the drive within command prompt?

From your USB drive letter in command prompt, see if you can copy the files out to your HDD

e.g. Flash drive is letter E

So from cmd

E:\>xcopy *.* C:\usbfiles /E and press Enter

Select D for directory

Looks like a faulty drive.

See if using a Linux live disc can help you see your files and copy it out.

Now you can try running chkdsk, but that might make it unusable on whatever you have, when they're corrupted.
