Pairing different monitors, one w/ G-Sync, one without)

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

1. No.

2. There will not be. Just running extra monitors adds an insignificant load to the GPU. Even with a 4K and 2x 1080p monitors running along with the main one, the drop in performance is negligible. What you do on the extra monitor may impact performance, such as watching videos, but that would be true if you were running it in the background too, it is not due to the extra monitor.

3. There should be no issues. You may want to consider enabling GSync for boarderless mode and run games in boarderless so that alt-tabbing out of the game works better.

Hi!

i5 7600k cooled by an H115i

EVGA GeForce 1080 SC

16 Gigs of RAM

Z270 MSI SLI PLUS

I plan to pair a PB 278Q and a PG 279Q (which I already own) for my PC. The essential difference between those two monitors is one is 60hz and no g-sync and the other is 144hz and has g-sync. I just need the second monitor for general productivity. Before I pull the trigger on the second monitor. I just have a few questions:

1. Will the second monitor affect my g-sync display?
2. Since I only intend to game off of one display, will there be any performance loss? How do I prevent or mitigate that?

3. Is anyone aware of any issues that arise with a set-up like this?

If anyone has any input or suggestions that'd be great. Thanks!
