How do i find out if a certain type of ram will fit my intel motherboard? for example:

[Some 'AMD only' DDR3]

Does that fit because it says it only fits amd systems?

My motherboard is socket 1155 h2 and i5 2400

It's marketing speak. DDR3 is DDR3. There's no special memory that only works with a specific CPU brand.

It should be compatible.

Ok thanks, but why do they do this? All it does is make me not buy their ram?

Just look on pcpp and input your country you are in (or closest). then input your mobo, then you can look at ram and see some stores cheapest prices and the ram will be compatible with your mobo.

There should be a list for your motherboard what Ram it supports but in 9 out of 10 cases DDR3 RAM will work with any DDR3 socket. Its just some say "compatible with..." to make consumers buy that over other brands/dimms as people that don't know too much about computers and are looking for a RAM upgrade can make it easier for them, as they are more likely to buy the kit /dimm that says it can work with there system.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

'AMD only RAM' is an older issue to do with memory density. What exactly is your motherboard? (or chipset)

@TheRandomness surely eBay links are allowed in this context.... (not in Hot Deals). If not, that's ridiculous.

eBay links are not allowed anywhere.
