I'm looking to get a i7 7700k, at this point i'm using a MSI Z170A GAMING M7.

To use the CPU i would need to update my bios, i have never done this before.

I'm scared i might screw something up and brick my motherboard.

Any recomendations?

Just follow the manual carefully

Only the FAT32 format USB flash drive supports updating BIOS by BIOS
FLASHBACK+.
●●By BIOS FLASHBACK+ button
1. Connect power supply to JPWR1 and JPWR2. (No other components are
necessary but power supply.)
2. Plug the USB flash drive that contains the MSI.ROM file into the BIOS
FLASHBACK+ port on rear I/O panel.
3. Press the BIOS FLASHBACK+ button to flash BIOS, and the BIOS FLASHBACK+
LED starts flashing.
4. After the flashing BIOS process is 100% completed, the BIOS FLASHBACK+
LED stops flashing and be off.

How big is the chance that i will brick my board?

I have never tried it before, and i'm a bit scared.
I might be better of getting a 6700k?
