Is it possible to connect two different branded  gpus in SLI.

eg: a strix 1070 and an evga 1070

Yes, as long as they are the same type of cards it will work fine.

Yes, the faster one will just down clock slightly to match the slower one (It would just look better with two of the same).

You can SLI any GTX 1070's together.

Core and memory clock will adjust to the lower one, and both will run at that speed.

 

But you can also OC both to lets say 2101MHz on core. If your GPUs can handle that ofc.

I had a 1070 MSI Gaming X and a EVGA FTW in the same system. You just want to either overclock both to the same settings, or insert one card at a time and overclock them individually and mark down the settings. For example, my MSI Gaming X would overclock (core clock) better, but the VRAM would not go too far. On the EVGA, it would overclock less (core clock) than the MSI Gaming X, but the VRAM overclocked better. I had to overclock them separately in MSI after burner.

As long as the chip in both cards is a GeForce GTX 1070 (GP104-200-A1), you can SLI different AIB cards. The SLI setup will operate at the slowest card in the system, but you can synchronize clock speeds with something like MSI Afterburner.
