Its all about girth.

No it's about that perfect fit. You just have to do a little fidgeting and searching around.

So off topic xD But if you making the hole then a perfect fit is guaranteed

I think this thread has been off topic a few times lol. A little side coversation never hurt.

I mean if your case is a little odd then you heck you may need a odd shaped rad. Lol if you just leave it out you can go with any size your heart desires.

With all the great rumors popping up lately, admittedly I can't tell you what "others" are saying as I've stopped paying attention.  Newegg is notorious for taking new releases and turning them into combos.   As soon as they notice something is selling, they start to make the combos and all of a sudden the item for individual purchase are no longer in stock on its own.

Just a wild theory of mine, but maybe they ordered a typical quantity expected for a HEDT platform and decided to force combos to sell more products as they are very well know to do?

That could be. It's my first time ever shopping at newegg so I really don't know how they operate. I did save $50 by purchasing the combo though instead of buying individually. So it worked out in that regard.

Believe me, if you want 4.7GHz on Threadripper you will have to spend $1000 on the cooler :P

That's assuming the CPU doesn't die from the voltage needed.

Length beats thickness.  Applies to rads too.  :D

It all about dat girth tho.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

must say these thermal and power issues are making ryzen look very appealing, especially considering the fact ryzen doesn't reach 95C+ at normal voltages

The owner of "too many" computers, called

The Lord of all Toasters (1920X 1080ti 32GB)

The Toasted Controller (i5 4670, R9 380, 24GB)

The Cheese Toastie (C2D (of some sort), GTX 760, 3GB, win XP gaming machine)

The Toaster (C2D, intel HD, 4GB, 2X1TB NAS)

How hot does Ryzen get at 4.8?

You have to keep things in perspective when you say stuff like that.  A Ryzen chip doesn't do 4.7 GHz under any circumstance other then sub ambient cooling.  What would temps be if you could run 4.7 GHz on ambient, which it can't?  We'll never know.

Phase change / LN2?  Probably cool.  Ambient, not so much, but like I said, we'll never know.

The voltage required to take a most Ryzen chips past 3.9 or 4 GHz would shoot up so sharply that I wouldn't doubt that we'd see insane temps as low as 4.3 to 4.4 GHz.

I think the highest I've seen is 5.8. You'd have to hire someone to constantly pour it and lots of money. :D

If you think you should spend $1K on a phase change cooler for a $300-500 CPU, it will run pretty cool.
