Hello All,

I'm planning to have my second build this month or next, and I'm considering entering the realm of liquid cooling for the first time with it. So after a bit of research, I zeroed in on the Corsair H60 liquid cooler. I know it's not the best liquid cooler in the market, but I don't really plan on getting the best mainly because I don't have the budget.

Anyway, I'm a bit paranoid about the whole liquid cooling thing because of the risks associated with it(leaking and pump failure). So my main concern is its reliability. Our computer usage is usually 8+ hours a day on weekdays, mostly light usage with a couple of hours of gaming. On weekends, 10 hours at least, a mix of light browsing, gaming, design work, 3D rendering and possibly content creation. Is this cooler reliable enough to last a few years(3+) with all those hours of use?

i wouldn't trust it for that extended use. And y would you really want an aio, the small aios are really not that great and even cheap air coolers give you the same performance with more reliability

Its not likely to leak, but I would recommend high end air over cheap 120mm AIOs (Only reason for those are for small cases where you cant fit a large heat sink).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

If reliability is your main concern, get an air cooler.

The h60 doesn't perform a whole lot better than air coolers with a similar price tag in my opinion.

An air cooler really is my first option for this build. Wanted to get people's thoughts on it though. Thanks!

It's not that I really want an AIO, an air cooler is actually my first choice. I got curious about liquid-cooling. lol

See, that's my problem, I can't fit my existing air cooler(CM Hyper 212 LED Turbo) inside the case(NZXT S340 Elite) I'm buying. lol. The cooler is already AM4 compatible out-of-the-box, which is perfect because I'm buying an R5 1600 for the build. I'm aware that the Wraith spire is a decent stock cooler, but I'm not sure it can sustain safe temps because of where I live.

...how does that not fit? It should fit as far as i know, i've installed a Mugen 4 in that case years ago and that fitted just fine.

The NZXT S340 Elite has a CPU clearance of 161mm and the Hyper 212 LED Turbo is 163mm tall. This is the one with the dual fans and a shroud on top. So it won't fit, unless the NZXT case has a bit more headroom that I'm not aware of?

Take off the top shroud (you can it's just a few screws, really easy) and push the fans down. Problem solved :D

I did try that, but to my dismay the screws don't have that cross-shaped space on the center where the tip of the screwdriver fits. Imagine a doughnut, that's how the top of the screw looks like. The space in the center isn't even angled, it's a perfect circle.

Contacted a Coolermaster rep via their website if the top shroud was removable, he/she didn't know. So I filed a ticket but they still haven't replied.:(

You can always fight it with a dremel or something if you want :P

If I have to, then I will. Haha

If you do that, please be careful.

Also make sure you don't touch the heatpipes, cutting them open would make the cooler useless.

If the fins end up with war wounds it's not a big deal :P

So I got a reply from coolermaster just now, they say the shroud is removable which is nice. So I guess I might be able to use this after all.
