Boys, is my 970 dying? (Temporarily fixed)

How long did you have it? Might be a good idea to check the box for any warranty.

Since about 2014. Just took it out and dusted the thing off. I think the back of the card where the IO was may have been slightly loose. For now it's ok. To be fair if there was gonna be a time when I would be capable of upgrading it would be now as I'm off work and have enough to buy a new rig. Fingers crossed I last until the next batch of GPUs launch from Nvidia so I can look for a cheaper 1080 or something similar.

I keep getting these weird artefacts when I watch videos or play games. I fixed the issue for a couple months by changing which display port outputs I was using, but now it's back and as frustrating as ever.

Figured I'd ask what you guys thought before I splurge on a new setup.

Yeah it's dying. Better get life insurance for it before it's too late.

Does it count as a pre-existing condition?

Don't know I am not a life insurance agent :P. But all jokes aside did you check the temps? Maybe it is running too hot. Also did you overclock it?

Nah I don't overclock GPUs unless they have a stock overclock. Gonna check that it's not wobbly in a sec but I'm pretty sure it's on it's way out.

I'm likely gonna wait til my friend that always upgrades on every refresh to sell his 1080, at least that way I know it'll be in good condition.

I think your card is Zotac GTX 970, the box picture is a "Z"

Nah, my 970 is a Palit one, I originally bought this pre-built. Some odd choices for components in it like the non-stock stock cooler for my cpu which has abysmal reviews. Hence why next time round I'm doing everything myself.

Pre-built? I was passing a used GALAX GTX 970 Black Edition. I think it's cool, at $221.

Keep in mind that you can't use the oven for cooking food again after you put PC components inside of it. And in many cases this will not fix your broken part.
