Here's what I currently do with this system. I play games at 1080p 60Hz. I also edit and make videos with this rig.

I also run Windows 10 and Mac OS Sierra as well.

I'm curious, if you had this rig what would you upgrade to it. I am trying to spend the least amount possible. Maybe $400 USD Max

1) Upgrade GPU to 1070 or RX 580 (When it comes available again...)

2) Upgrade to Ryzen or Kaby Lake, respective mobos and DDR4 Ram

3) Upgrade to bigger capacity HDD or SSDs

i would go for ryzen, for Hackintosh, Intel would be a better option.

A GTX Titan was close to 780 Ti in performance which is close to a 970 in performance. Yes a 580 would be an upgrade but to make it worthwhile I'd get a 1070, your CPU is quite capable. In fact, Linus is using it in his scrapyward wars video, subscribe to Floatplane club and see how it performs with a 980 Ti (similar to a 1070)

In my opinion, your current rig should do the trick for both editing and gaming. Unless you're planning to game at higher resolutions and quality settings then your GPU is fine, same as RAM and CPU. The space on the HDD and SSD to run your OS from seems adequate too. However, depending on what kind of editing you do I might suggest upgrading the CPU or RAM just because heavy editing at higher resolutions can be very taxing on those parts.

What are you doing more often?

Game > Video edit?

Game < Video edit?

At this point Video Edit > Game

Thats the thing, my system is already a hackintosh. Thats why I have two SSDs one for each OS.

I know I had this GTX Titan for awhile now and yes it is closest to the 970 if the 970 is at stock OC speeds. The more I think about it, I might just go for the GPU upgrade.

The video editing will perform significantly better with more cores, but I don't know much about hackintoshes, but all recent Apple PCs use Intel chips, so ryzen might be dangerous... If you are editing and rendering in final cut your PC will probably already perform fine in that regard though..

In the end it comes down to the following question: where do you feel like your PC is old and sluggish? During editing? During gaming? Or, when you need to empty the "downloads" folder the third time that month because space on C is running low?

See thats my dilemma. Everything in this system is solid since I only play at 1080p. Plans are to stay at this resolution since upgrading monitor will indeed need a gpu upgrade alongside that.

I am editing in Premiere Pro CC. I primarily work on Windows. The hackintosh is more of a side project and hobby. I also will be using it to make some videos on my YouTube channel like tutorials, guides etc.

The most I feel it sluggish in is during when I stream and play games at the same time. For example, Gears of War 4 at 1080p with the Titan runs fine at ultra settings when just gaming. But when I stream it and game at the same time, that is when it is sluggish and stutters like hell. I imagine the recent titles like Prey and Mass Effect Andromeda it might be the same.

This is most likely due to your CPU though, since it is doing most of the heavy lifting during streaming. You should check this video
