Worth getting the Oneplus 3T now or wait for 5?

Hemanse

My current S6 needs to be upgraded and since i have had nothing but problems with it and alot of issues with Samsung, im thinking its time to try something "new". A local shop here carries the Oneplus 3T and i had a look at it today next to a few Huawei phones, the Oneplus 3T seems pretty great value for the money compared to the others, but i also heard that the Oneplus 5 is suppose to launch in the near future, so im just wondering if its worth waiting a bit.

Depends how long you can wait haha. I love my OP3T, but obviously if you can wait, you should wait. I did hear the price is going to be a little steeper though compared to the $450ish the OP3T went for, but it wasn't officially stated (the price) when I last read an article on it.

wait.

it's like 1 or 2 weeks. 3T production is already stopping.

Can probably wait, just gonna live with my phone rebooting or turning itself off a few times a day :) I know the 5 doesnt seem to be that far away, but from i remember its also quite a pain to get a new Oneplus in the beginning.

Not that much into the mobile market, but from what i have been reading the number 4 is considered bad luck in China, so they usually avoid using it :)

Definitely wait, as long as you're not worried about spending more money. The OnePlus 5 will definitely command a premium over the OnePlus 3T. I don't think it'll be toooo hard to get one at the beginning, now that they've proven people want their devices they'll be more inclined to manufacture more at the start. Or at least, they should.

Yeah think i can live with mine for a little longer, so probably worth just waiting. Also did hear of a 500$ price tag, just a rumor probably, but still a very good price compared to other new phones out now.

Not sure what discontinued even means, im guessing it just means they have stopped making it, but does it also mean they are gonna stop supporting it? They dont seem to have the best track record when it comes to updates :)

Also considered going for the Huawei Mate 9 or Mate 9 Pro, but man, those prices compared to the Oneplus :(

They will support it for one more update, aka Android O. The fact that the company thinks another year of updates is a gift is unacceptable.

True, the phone is what? 5-6 months old? but then again, not like companies such as Samsung does a whole lot better and they also charge a twice or even three times the price for their phones. I also like the fact that Oneplus doesnt seem to mind rooting, while Samsung does everything to make sure you dont. Been using Samsung phones for a long time, but their service, atleast here in Denmark is absolute trash.
