Happened about 2 days ago. Was watching TV on it (hooked via HDMI to a TV) and we turned it off, unplugged the HDMI, turned it on later, and it wouldn't load anything on the screen.

Laptop is <1 year old,

(Given i bought from HK (respectable seller, so no worries there, no warranty)

Dell Inspiron 15 7k series

i7-6700HQ

8GB RAM

Nvidia GTX 960M

Connected devices only recognizes the TV as a monitor, using the function key to change projection on any option only works on TV monitor. When I try to detect through display, it only detects the TV monitor.

Been suggested it was either a data cable coming out the LCD, or that the bulb on the monitor was dead. I do not think its the backlight being dead as even under heavy light, the laptop monitor is not showing anything.

However, the touchscreen element still works on the laptop monitor,

As I was typing this out, the laptop crashed with an error code along the lines of DXGKRNL VIDEO FATAL ERROR

Any ideas?

The display connection between your GPU and Screen is broken I  think but not for a 1 year old laptop

Editted in more information, after the most recent crash (the one outlined in the thread) CPU-Z or Device Manager no longer can recognize the GTX 960M

Then you got a dance paper weight I think
